At Le Cgyne Ballet, children from ages 5 to 17 follow the London based Imperial Society Teachers’ of Dancing (ISTD)’s Imperial Classical Ballet programme. From the first written syllabus in 1913, the syllabus has evolved from the teachings of the French School from the Paris Opera to the English classical style today.
The progressive syllabus work was structured to build the young ballet dancers’ technique, musicality as well as understanding and application of ballet terminology. From the Primary grade level, the young dancers are taught to recognise as well as respond to different music time signatures. The ‘free work’ section of the syllabus teaches the students to respond to simple ballet choreography to progressively complex ballet choreography work as the dancers advance to different levels.
